Interesting Matt. Do you have any idea if it could be a local interference?
I don't think I'm all that far from you but I haven't had any problems with static or excess noise.
I also monitor AACoFD on VHF with a Yaesu 8900 in my vehicle.
Just last week I changed antennas on my BCD996. I'm using a Comet CH-53 that is maybe 1.5" tall.
I have no problems with AACo, Balto Co, and DC 800. Funny thing is, I rarely ever get Balto City regardless of the antenna.

It is something to do with signal strength. I always had a full five bars of strength and yesterday and today it sometimes drops down to 2-3 bars. I am picking Baltimore City fine though.

Offhand, I'd say desense issue - something the GREs are known for...but that's admittedly a shot in the dark...the only time I see that kind of thing is when I'm up in Woodlawn. I guess there are some sweet spots for the county there, and some areas where the signal gets weak. Of course, the closer I get to work, with all those blasted cell and microwave towers, the worse it gets. 73 Mike

I Just don't understand why it is doing it. I drove down to Annapolis on Sunday and the signal strength was perfect like normal but when I came home, the signal strength keeps dropping down 2-3 bars if I am not close to the window. It's werid.

Curious if you tried activating the attenuator - I don't know where you live, but it worked for me when I was having issues in northern AA Co. with a RS (GRE) scanner 2 years ago.

A fire unit switch over to a digital talkgorup and dispatch told them to switch back to analog. It was 16528.

Do you have the list of Police, Sheriff, others in analog like we used to have in the database before the switchover to digital? I am looking for the list of the old analog talkgroups.

See message 131 in this thread, Pasadena. That list is very old, but it might be a starting point 73 Mike

Wow!- a blast from the past! These are the very first TGIDs for AA County - I'm still picturing the old display on my BC235XLT in the days where you had to know what the ID was when it came up on your scanner (that is - pre-alpha tagging days).

The police orgs that went to digital still have the analog TGs in their radios (I think) and occasionally accidentally show up there. When they don't get an answer they correct themselves and go to the digital TG.

The same applies for the FD radios - the radios were (and are) programmed with both the digital TGs and the analog but of course the FD never switched. In this case the reverse is true - FD people sometimes show up on digital and have to be reminded to go back to analog.

As for some of the IDs you reported seeing earlier, here's what I have as far as what they are (or were):

2672 APD 13-D Ops
2676 ** looks like a "patch" (doesn't look like a standard base TG)

1904 AAPD 11-J Ops-3
1968 AAPD 11-L Ops-5
1616 AAPD Northern
2576 APD 13-A Ops
2736 APD 13-F Tac
