Default Mont Co Fire TG question

I often here a unit requesting to talk to a dispatch supervisor, or units requesting an "alternate". The dispatcher almost always replies "Switch to 7 Kilo". But then I never hear anything on that talkgroup. The db doesn't list a 7 Kilo, but I have it in an old file as 3664.

I have heard fire ground operations on 7 Kilo without any problems. But whenever it's just two units talking, or a unit talking with a dispatcher, I never hear anything.

Any explanation would be appreciated.

Paul

7K is talkgroup 18096. Scanner Frequencies: Montgomery County Trunking System, Montgomery County, Maryland It's in the database, but not in order... Muttgummery added some new talkgroups and redesignated some of them - looks as if this happened in July 2006 if you check the update information. 3664 is now 71C. I suspect that that is (sometimes?) a simulcast of 7C, which is the operations talkgroup, which is why you're hearing fireground operations but not two units or dispatcher and unit. I had thought they added four talkgroups but looking at the database, it must have been six...the "new" talkgroups are 18096 (7K), 18128 (7L), 18160 (71K), 18192 (71L), 18256 (7M), and 18288 (71M). Note that the designations of some of the other (old) talkgroups were revised.

I made a "cheat-sheet" for a buddy of mine that had the old and new designations but I just looked and couldn't find it... will check my old email if I have time over the weekend.

You may want to print out the data pertaining to the talkgroups from your radio and compare it with what's in the database to see which talkgroups changed.

Sure thing - that should do it for you, I would think.

Default New TG 7November ?

[QUOTE=OldsDoug;1088195]7K is talkgroup 18096. Scanner Frequencies: Montgomery County Trunking System, Montgomery County, Maryland ........etc

Has anyone gotten updated on new talk groups? I heard reference to a 7N (November) on an incident yesterday where 7C was not being received well. It sounded like they may have put a mobile repeater in service at the site and assigned 7N to it, as they referred to " the RPTR is in service ...switch to 7November"

It's not a new TG... I asked that question myself and answered it awhile back.
It's actually listed under the 'Conventional' Freqs' section on Montgomery County before you go into the TRS Montgomery County system..

A bit tricky to find.. I think it should be mentioned in the TRS MoCo section or at least a link.. but here's the direct link.. scroll down to Other Fire/EMS

Montgomery County, Maryland (MD) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Above is the link and for your convenience is a paste snip of it...

Other Fire/EMS

Frequency Input License Type Tone Alpha Tag Description Mode Tag
855.73750 810.73750 WQEK860 RM 156.7 PL 7N VRS Vehicle Repeater System (also Ch. 71N and 72N) FM Fire-Tac

It's also shown in the Fire/Rescue Radio Channel Plan on the TRS db page;

Zone 71 Montgomery County - Fire Secondary
Zone 72 Montgomery County - EMS Primary

Looking across at the zone plan for Fire you'll see in the matrix across:
--snip--
Ch 7 71 72 ....
N VRS VRS ...
--snip--

which would mean CH: 7N, 71N, and 72N respectively
