Default Baltimore County/Uniden Issue

I have had a live online feed of the Baltimore County police for several months. Today I received a couple of emails from listeners saying that there was something wrong with the feed. I checked it out and indeed, there were periods of nothing but static on various random talkgroups, along with periods of control channel noise. Then everything would be fine for a few minutes, and then back to the same problems. The scanner would show little or no signal strength during the bad periods. Generally it gets 5 bars on that system, no problem.

The scanner is a BCT-15. I reset it to factory defaults and then reloaded the programming to no avail. Same issues. So I programmed a brand new BCD396XT for that system and put it on the feed. Exact same problem! Fine for a while then it will open squelch on a talkgroup, there is no signal strength and lots of static. Then perfect with 5 bars. Then Control Channel noise...very weird considering this was all working fine for months up until today.

So I programmed a GRE PSR-500 for Baltimore County, put it on the feed and the problems are gone.

It would seem like something changed on the system that the Unidens aren't handling very well, but I have no idea what. I'm wondering if anyone else is having any issues with the Baltimore County system using Uniden scanners.

Default Solved

I seem to have solved the problem by enabling end code detection on the Unidens. Both Unidens continued to display the problem right up to the moment I enabled end code detection. It's been an hour since then and the problem has not re-appeared. Since it would only take a matter of seconds to happen previously, I'm fairly confident the problem is solved. I just have no idea why end code detection suddenly became a requirement. No matter...it works again.
