I just came across 141.315/xx.310 when I was scanning 138-144mhz. It sounds like an ELT beacon going off but I know its not. It sounds like Bleeep Bleeep Bleeep Bleeep every two seconds. Is anyone else receiving this transmission?

Hi Ben,

I don't get a beep...beep...beep up here in upper Mont Co..but what I do get is what sounds like a mic being keyed in the same pattern...kind of a dead air pulse.

Paul, that's what I got too until I switched to AM mode and then heard the beeping. You should be getting a good strong signal considering your location. I only get it S2/3 here in Glen Burnie.

Can I switch a pro 2052 to am in that range?

The only software I have for it is a shareware program called RadioCommander. It was the only program I could find for it. Though there is supposed to be a WinScan 2.0, it does not appear to be available anymore.

I don't even know (and I own a 2052) if it'll do AM in that freq range. I only use my 2052 for fire/police. Don't have it in front of me to check.

Paul, there are a few programs out there for the 2052; but I think the consensus is that

Scan Control

is one of the best for the 2052. I've written some reviews of earlier versions of their software on Strong Signals (look at the software page) and there are one or two PRO2052 groups on Yahoo where you can get lots more information.
