Default Trouble Programming NIH TRS [Bethesda, MD] (PRO-106)

I'm having probs programming in the NIH TRS system Scanner Frequencies: National Institutes of Health Trunking System, Various, Maryland using the Radio Shack PRO-106 Handheld

I entered in the control channels into Frequencies section and have tried all the "Types"

Narrow FM: NO
Dwell: 0
DIG AGC: ON
SuperTrack: ON

Multi-Site OFF

Custom Tables:
Table 01:
Lo Chan: 0
Hi Chan: 0
Offset: 380
Base: 406.0000
Step: 12.5

Fleet Map: Type II

I can't seem to figure it out.. I read the manual and looked around the web.. HELP !

What value, if any besides 0, should there be for Hi Chan / Lo Chan ?

However, when I do a manual search limit between 406.0-410.0 MHz I can hear the freqs come up but not when I program the trunking data in..

Thanks,

Jay

Try entering 406.0 in the low channel slot too.

After the fact, ARC500, PSREdit and Win500 all imported this system with tables set correctly.

Per fmon's post:

Lo Chan: 0 Change to 380 <<
Hi Chan: 0 Change to 759 <<

That seemed to work

Is 406.0 and 380 the same thing expressed differently.. (HEX?)

I'm new to trunking.. I have the programming cable.. Just no software and have no software...
Looking for a preferably freeware programming software or a good commercial one (or the PRO-106)

ARC500, PSREdit and Win500 were mentioned. Recommendations?

How would one determine the "Lo Chan / Hi Chan"? I guess it's in the Object Oriented Scanning tips - The RadioReference Wiki ??

Do you find these out by decoding the control channel w/ a PC/IF I assume.. (or I probably need to tap the discriminator?)

Lost in a sea of trunking,

jay =)

hex for 380 is 17C for 406 is 196. In Motorola VHF/UHF Trunking the first go to channel is 380 and the last channel is 759, which gives inclusively, 380 channels available for use. Often this requires more then one table but rarely more then three tables. P25 however, (re-read the Wiki if needed) often uses up to 6 tables or more.

No freeware available other then GRE which is very limited. ScanControl is also available but not mentioned above because it will not integrate with RR database for import to software. It does have a Data Grabber abliity to paste directly from RR. The other three will directly import. I have all 4 but mostly use Win500.

Plus a few other Wiki pages.

The best program for decoding (using PC/IF port) is a free program called Pro96Com at the PSREdit site PSREdit - Configuration Editors for the new GRE line of scanners. Mike V made both programs. Unitrunker is another decoder which works very well.
