Default Baltimore County Fire Radio

Does anyone know what's up with the "new" alert tone being used for Baltimore County Fire? Does it have anything to do with the new 700Mhz system being installed?

Fire dispatch is at the back-up center using different dispatch equipment.

I thought so. 46.46 ALWAYS comes in better along the northern Falls Rd corridor when they are on backup. I don't know what's up with the distortion that comes off the Spook Hill tower on this freq but it is constant from dispatch, units usually repeat without distortion. I think it is certain mic jacs at the dispatch console.

Baltimore County is in their Back-up center for 6 weeks while upgrades are completed at their primary center, I believe this also includes a move of the center.

I think they're still using the same lowband transmitters -- just controlling from the back-up center. Timing may be better. I'm not sure how they have it set up.

I may have to recant that 46.46 is always better from Gilroy.
This time it seems that they have traded one type of distortion for another, I am no sound or electronic engineer so I can't characterize it, they may just be over modulating from Gilroy.
I guess I spoke too soon.

Yeah it sucks...no printouts at the station. And we can barely hear the verbal dispatch in the station because of all the distortion. No one told us it was for six weeks, we were initially told it was just for the weekend.

BaltCoLiveFeed- Temporaraly I have downsized county police monitoring and included all known fire 700 freq's.This should bring fire monitoring to the "front"

Does anyone know when the new system is scheduled to go in service and is it going to be 700 MHZ as I've heard?
