Who is Trooper 17?

Just heard a Trooper 17 lift off from Martin State Airport, report in with Potomac Approach on 119.7 and get clearance to fly to Shock Trauma - which obviously makes him a helicopter and not one of their couple of fixed wing aircraft. This is a new one to me. Anyone have any idea who/what this may be?

It is one of the Helos that is not in service. Could be training or maintenance flight.

I would agree probably an out of service helo... but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, cause they only have 12 helo's at last count...

and a side note to this... If maintence comes to say Salisbury to drop off a new helo and pick one up for service... the one that maintence is flying is known as Trooper 4-1 versus trooper 4... at least that's what a friend of mine told me... never heard them on the air, but it sounds sensible...

Does anyone know (I am sure someone here does) what Pa State Police calls their Helo's. It is not unusual where I live, seeing them flying down to Childrens (I assume) in DC....could it have been one of them who just headed to AAFB for fuel?

Not sure about PSP's name but there are several medical helicopter names I hear on the PA freqs...MedEVAC/LifeFlight/LifeStar among them. There is a good link on the Capitol Hill Monitors page for more info. This is it:
