Interesting (pager?) testing going on today ... several units ID'd
around the county as S, NE, and NW teams ... appear to be testing
the tone alerts/paging. So far, they've passed each test I've heard but
the signal I'm getting on my old scanner that is set to 154.01
is weak and breaking up badly... much weaker than normal.

Anyone else catching any of this?

Related to the new tower?

Normal dispatch toning out now -- usual strong signal....
Testing holding until call finishes....
Test now.... weak and broken signal...

The test seem to be controlled by the SOUTH team -- possibly setting
up directional transmissions for paging? I'm to the WEST of the new
tower.

ok, i can spill a bit more...

testing is for the new tower and "some other enhancements"... will be going on all week as they test all over the county (even more so in the parts of the county where we have dead spots)... i had mentioned in another thread that this tower will improve reception in the western part of the county, but i'm trying to get conformation if this will help out the marley station mall area... i'll report back...

Troy,

I have been listening today with almost the same results. I would say less than 50% of the tests I am able to understand monitoring the vhf 154.01 But Firealarm always comes through clear as a bell. I think it is interesting whenever they fail a test in the field I would fail it myself in my stationary location. When they pass a test in the field I would pass it too still in the stationary location. I have a hunch someone has their nextel sitting on the dispatch console?
