Thanks Admin.....I'm gonna scan that range when there is no cap patrol flying...Not much to report so far other than what I have already said.

417.9750 & 409.0500 are simulcasts of US Park 168.3000

Some type of L.E. activity between field units and a dispatcher on 417.8500

Had open/closed carriers on the following:
418.4500
411.4500
418.0620
418.7500

Some type of college/university I believe on 418.8500 (referred as "Campus radio")

Hello,

406 to 420 used to be my favorite band. Now it is 380 to 400 :)

I usually end up down in DC every year or two and look forward to dragging out trunker and dxing the government band. We have a system up here in MA but it is too far away.

The first system I "trunkered" was APG while staying in Aberdeen for a nearby hamfest. The most difficult system was the Rowley training center as it took like 2 or 3 years of time to figure out the parameters. :) It is interesting to try and figure out where the system is.

One of my favorite systems is the Smithsonian System that uses Passport LTR but this is an ego thing as I can trunktrack it with LTRTrunk, (Off topic: People in the Baltimore/DC area should scan 217 to 218 MHz. Mobex has a multiple site Passport LTR in the Baltimore/DC area.)

I am planing a trip to DC in the fall so I can try out the BCD396T on my new favorite band. I will also use it on 406 - 420. With the channel capacity and small size I could scan the government bands while keeping a low profile. Maybe I should get a new suit and one of those Secret Service style earpieces while I am at it. I would blend right in :)

Could the campus radio bit be GW univ in DC? Also ive heard alot of talk on other state boards about not being able to recieve NPS on VHF anymore. Could it be possible that they are moving over to UHF to meet the requirement that all of their transmissions be APCO-25 digital?

They are not simulcasts, they are UHF relays.
409.05 is at Spring Pt Mtn and the other is on South Mtn IIRC.
Aditional relays are in Greenbelt and Catoctin Mtn.

NPS is alive and well on VHF, I hear them all the time.

L/E activity in the 417-418 range is DEA. I have heard a fiar amount of activity lately, but due to the relays, I don't know where they are physically. There was another post yesterday in the MD forum for DEA freqs.

Paul- forget my comment about the other post about DEA freqs from yesterday. I had a brain freeze and couldn't remember who made the post. It was yous.

If I find out how i will post a list of DEA freqs.

Just a thought but could RR add a page to the database for Fed govt freqs like, DEA, Customs, US Marshalls, etc?

Dan,

If you go to the RR homepage, then the WIKI board and scroll down, you will see a list of "common" federal frequencies....this is what I have been using for a starting point. Though a search of the web will produce lots a federal frequencies for just about every major city EXCEPT wash/baltimore corridor....other members here have also suggested that the fed's have all gone digital and encrypted.
