Default PSA: AA County Public Safety Expo July 31

Just a quick note for anyone who's in range or driving distance who might be interested.

On Saturday, July 31, Anne Arundel Community College will be hosting a Public Safety Expo on its Siegert Field and associated areas.

The event will run 10:00am until 3:00pm.

AACC Department of Public Safety, AACo Police, and AACo Fire units will be present.

Safety seminars, K-9 demonstrations, child fingerprinting and safety seat inspections will also be offered.

If you're in the area or passing through, stop by and wave to some of the members of the finest and bravest.

Do you think the troopers will have one of their helo's there? I've been wanting to check out the inside of one.

I obviously can't answer that for you Brgnbill.......but, I do know that often times you might be able to call the hangar closest to you and ask for a tour. If I was a betting man though, I would say there may be one there. MSP has very much loosened the reins on when they can go and do demo's ect. We had a trooper down this past year for a mock accident we did for prom, and also they have come and done a tour for our Fire Co new members on one of our drill nights. They used to not do any of this because of the cost of fuel...

I'm not sure if MSP is going to be present at all, or have any of the Dauphins here. The new flyer I saw today does say there will be rescue demonstrations in addition to the others I mentioned above, but it's not specific. I don't have any further information than that.

It's in Arnold, 5 miles north of Annapolis.

From the south or west, take US 50 east to exit 27, MD 2 northbound; it's about 3-4 miles north on the right, lots of signs, entrance is West Campus Drive, or go past and make a right onto College Parkway, can't miss it

From the north: Route 2 south through Severna Park, left turn onto College Parkway, then either entrance on College Parkway.

From the far north: Use I97 southbound to US 50 then follow the "from the west" directions.

From the Shore: Use US 50/US 301 to the Bay Bridge, exit 27 MD 2 northbound, follow "from the west" directions. Do not use "East College Parkway" or St. Margarets Road exits as the traffic is likely to be much worse (beach traffic etc.)

You may visit www.aacc.edu to get maps if those would be helpful; look for the visitor links. The event info has not been posted there, but the maps are up all the time.

Hopefully this will be an informative and fun event for everyone; I talked to a couple of our DPS officers and none of them were sure what all is going to be going on. I'm still trying to get some more details because I'd hate to have posted this and then it turn out to only be 1 K-9 unit and a bunch of our DPS guys!

I know "bumping" is generally discouraged on most boards, but I thought I'd bring this one up to the top since it's now only a couple of days away and we have a couple of new members floating about the Maryland forum. I still have nothing further in regards to additional info, but if you're close it's probably worth checking out if you're interested in the K9 or rescue demos.

Any of you going out to this thing? Might be a good opportunity to meet the faces behind these posts and we can even swap some war stories.

I'm going to at the very least drop by, and I'll definitely have one or more of my scanners with me... I've got to stop by and help do our end-of-month paperwork so I'll be on campus for that anyway, then I plan on wandering about the Expo for a bit.

Default Public Safety Expo @ AACO

What time did Trooper 1 set down? I was there during most of the duration and did not see it.

They must have gotten called away before I could get there! Hopefully I will have better luck next year.
