Balto Co Phase II
Is there any truth to the rumor that Baltimore County is going phase II in the near future?

The new radios that were purchased when they went from SmartZone to Phase I are XTS series which are not capable of Phase II, unless they are ready to drop a huge sum of money to purchase new radios again I don't see them going Phase II anytime soon.

And that's pretty unlikely with somewhere between 500 and 1000 radios to buy at $2000 a pop.

$2,000 before options that - from what I've been told - make the radios as much as $5,000 each!
New DCFD/MPDC TRS on 700MHz?

I highly doubt they will change that soon, it hasn't even been 5 years with Phase I.

Baltimroe County is an x2 system. However all radios are phase 1 only. This explains the issues in receiving with a phase 1 only scanner. I got this straight from their radio techs

Ehh.. something was wrong there (not to say the RTO doesn't know what he's talking about, but I think something got lost in translation). Based on raw information from what the system itself is transmitting, it's P25 Phase I FDMA operating CQPSK LSM. X2 is TDMA, and that's a big and noticeable difference even in control channels. The issues in receiving are due to lack of scanner support for CQPSK LSM.
