What is an FD SL1 unit?

Yesterday I saw a AA county Fire Department SUV labelled "SL1".
What would that unit be and do?

Yup, "Shop Loner." If I remember correctly they have 2 marked as SL-1, SL-2.

At one time they were marked as just Loner 1, etc. That makes more since.

"SL" could be used for "School Liaison" too.

Some agencies have school liaison officers who go around and promote the organizations activities and safety to young folk.
