Default will this work for Police and fire in Montgomery county

Hi all, iam new here and I just bought a PRO-97 1000-Channel Triple-Trunking Handheld Scanner from radio shack yesterday and was wondering if it will work for picking up Montgomery county, as well as fredrick and parts of virgina police and fire radio frequencies? and if so i have 30 days to return it. which one would i need to pick up police and fire radio frequencies in Montgomery County, fredrick and virgina?

Nope- the PRO-96 and 2096 will do it, though. It's not cheap, unfortunately, to get a digital these days - unless you manage to get a BC296 or 796 used. The other scanners that will do digital include the BCD396T and BCD996 from Uniden - we have Wiki articles on all of these....73s Mike

It should be noted for the sake of conversation that you can monitor the Frederick County comms on your Pro 97 and you can listen to Mont. Co. fire dispatch on 154.160 and some ops on 153.950. That might hold you over if you don't feel like paying the extra $$$ for a digi scanner. But if you want Mont. Co. police activity, I'm afraid you're stuck.
