Currently the MBTA is still operating on the conventional frequencies. The trunked system has not been put into use yet.

See This Site for the current set up.

Subways are still heard on UHF. I dont know if it is patched from 800 Mhz or not. T PD is still heard on 470.6625.

...and given the crippling amount of debt that the MBTA is carrying right now, and the sad physical state of most of their infrastructure, it seems unlikely that a new radio system will appear any time soon. I'm personally ok with that, since their UHF conventional frequencies are pretty strong.

Yes, the longer the T stays analog UHF, the better for us listeners.

I think that the buses, Inspectors, and other administrative staff are on the trunk system, but that's it. The police are still on the UHF system and will be for some time.

The Pro 163 won't track EDACS ESK trunking systems and there is no commercially available scanner that will process Pro Voice audio. Given that it's not surprising that you don't hear anything on the trunk. If you put those frequencies into the scanner in conventional mode, you'll probably hear sounds, but nothing that is intelligible.

Just the other day I heard someone transmitting on 473.6625 (the input to the T PD repeater).
