Attleboro Police 10 codes and other codes

This is what I have to date. If anyone could correct/add to this list, I would very much appreciate it. I will edit this post to reflect the changes, if any. I have tried like crazy to find this stuff on the web, and I'm sure it's out there somewhere, but I am sick of searching. Eventually, I'll put a page on my website to help others.

Hi Kevin,

When I first began scanning (1975), Attleboro, North Attleboro, Mansfield, Norton,
and Plainville all shared the low band freq on 39.54. These codes were used by all
departments. As far as I know, they're still in use today. The exception may be Mansfield.
They are now P-25 (encrypted). So I'm unable to verify their code usage.

Yes, I remember that frequency, along with Attleboro's old 39.64(old channel 4) and 39.74.
I find myself missing an AFD frequency though.(I don't listen to them that much)
Generally, I always heard them on 154.385. Currently, I'm not getting both sides of communication. I also have 159.3, 154.28 (intercity)and 153.89 but still only getting half the story. Am I missing something?

If you have 154.385 - pl 100.0 programmed,
you should be hearing both sides of the conversation.

471.6 - pl D-343 simulcasts but is a weaker signal and not repeated.

51A is a Child Abuse/Neglect Issue, Derived from

M.G.L - Chapter 119, Section 51A

I think it is foolish to use 10 codes for anything but 10-4 or for discreet things, Like if a subject has 100 warrants out for his arrest a 10-XX could tell the officer to go back to the cruiser, so the suspect doesn't hear that he has warrants out.

Another 10-XX code could be used if an officer needs help and doesn't want to draw attention to a suspect.

Other then that 10 codes are foolish and outdated and quite annoying. Woonsocket, RI Police use them the most and other Northern RI/MA PDs near RI. Is it really necessary to say 10-10 at 123 Any Street and then say 2 subject fighting. Woonsocket Fire used to use 10 codes, they stopped about 3 years ago. Only 10 code Woonsocket Fire uses is 10-4.

Thanks for the 51A clarification.
Recently, I was listening to an officer who found that a woman had left her children in a running car outside a supermarket. Among other things that she was cited for(and having her car towed), I heard the officer mention 51A. I figured the code meant something like child endangerment. I was pretty close.

I agree that 10 codes are outdated and foolish. I read somewhere that a lot of places are doing away with them, but some places resist change.

Brockton still uses them. But thy are far from
"secret" codes. The list was published in the old
ScannerMaster "big" books.

10-32 Personal Residence


So a 10-21, 10-32 means the officer is on a meals break at
his/her home.
