Worcester County, Massachusetts (MA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference - I think the database needs to be corrected.

I can barely hear the rollcall that is done of FDs on 33.70. 9AM today I heard " Leominster Fire " and " Princeton Fire ". Princeton gave me a PL of 131.8. I didnt get any PL from Leominster FD.

I would guess that all of the northern Worcester County FDs have base stations on 33.70 with a PL of 131.8. I would also guess that there is a 31.10 repeater somewhere with a input of 33.70. I would also guess that the input to the repeater is guarded with a PL of 131.8. Anyone know if I am correct? Anyone ever hear any skip coming thru the 31.10 repeater?

33.70 is the input to the low band repeater with 31.10 as the output, both using 131.8 as the PL. The repeater is on top of Wachusett Mountain.

As for skip, I do recall skip coming in on the input frequency. Haven't heard it in awhile.

dmonty83 - do you know if anyone actually listens to the 31 Mhz freq? Seems to me that the system can work pretty good without the repeater. There might be less static for dispatchers if they listen to 31.10R.

All dispatch centers are programmed to work off of the repeater. This was done to extend the ability to call around the distict from either base to base or mobile to base. At the same time a UHF repeater is also patched into the low band repeater.

33.700 PL 131.8 was the original Dist 8 operations channel. Since the 31.100 Rptr PL 131.8 went on-line about 2-3 years ago, we only listen to the rptr output now, which comes in full scale all over central MA from this Mt Wachusett site.

Have the other 2 low band rptrs ever been installed & put into service?

* 30.980 Rptr - Harvard fire lookout tower Rptr site.
* 31.260 Rptr - Phillipston fire lookout tower Rptr site.

I seem to hear DCR loud and clear on 151.145 from Mt Wachusetts, but 33.70 and 453.75 come in pretty bad. I wonder if DCR runs more power, or if they have a higher antenna, or maybe if directional antennas are involved?
