I asked about this a few days ago but was wondering if any one else noticed that Newton PD
seems to be going back and forth between 470.8375 and 470.3875.

Are they having problems with the 8375 ch1? Not a big deal just seems strange

Newton FD seems to be switching back and forth between 483.4625 and 482.9625.

Maybe they are trying to burn in new transmitters evenly. Or maybe the electrons in the antennas get tired.

Ah, I noticed this as well! I work in Newton and keep my scanner on my desk and noticed them bouncing back and forth and was wondering if I had the channels mislabeled.

They still seem to be going back and forth so they must have some issues.
I just keep both fqs in my scanner.

Yeah, I noticed that this morning too on my way to work.

Did they get new transmitters does anyone know?

Just checked this discussion thread.
I noticed NPD was having a lot of beeping tones last week, then they've been off the air - at 470.8375.
I'll try plugging in the other frequency and see what I find.
tks

"Beeping tones" - maybe a low power alarm or some sort of failure alarm.

With the new fire channel in use (482.9625), maybe some intermodulation problems appeared. Maybe they are trying to figure out which channels play well together and which dont.

The strange part is I noticed they bounce back and forth during the day. It hasn't been like one day they stay on channel 1 and the next day stay on channel 2. Seems like something is definitely up.

Newton PD this morning (6:40am - 7:20am EST) was bouncing back and forth between 470.8375 and 470.3875. Weird part is they were doing it without warning to the current crew. Not sure what that is about or how the officers know which channel to listen to...

Is it possible that they are using both channels as primary channels now? Maybe 1 northside and 1 southside?
