Default Looking for fed frequencies in se mass

I have been searching on and off for about a month now, and haven't had any luck finding anything. So far all I have is the coast guard on 162.3250 and also 408.200 for the FPS. Are there any other agencies in the area or is that pretty much it? oh yea I also get 171.2375 which is encrypted 99% of the time. it sounda like it is another coast guard channel??? can anyone help me out???

Yes the 171 freq is CG SE NE
(Coast Guard Southeastern New England)
What radio are you using? I have a Pro-106 which is terrible in the 160-174 mhz. area
My BCD396XT's however are superb in that area
So it does make a huge difference
Bob

edit:
eavesdropping on some of your previous posts it looks like you have a Pro-106
Well, my pro-106 is not used on my discone antenna because I hardly receive anything on VHF more than 20-30 miles from me. In comparison, my BCD396XT can receive federal frequencies from Boston, Cape Cod, and down to New Jersey on good days. There are threads here on the forums regarding adding an FM trap in series with your antenna going to the Pro-106. This will greatly, I mean greatly improve the VHF reception. Here is one thread about it:

http://forums.radioreference.com/pas...p-airband.html

there are plenty of others on the RR forums about it

Bob

YMMV - but I wish folks would STOP saying "They are all Enc"

And No 162-174 is only One of the Search Ranges [Yes 162]

Search
138-144, 148-150.8, 162-174, 380-400, 400-420

Now again as told before, DO NOT expect this to be like listening to your Local PD/FD/EMS
You might hear someone Once a Day, Week, Month or even Year

165.3250 has been dead since 2006/2007 and the only real user was the USCG during LNG Escorts, and they have moved that operation over the MSP 800 TRS on one of the SOPS Assigned TG's

The BAPERN Patch is P25 and typically one way for the Bank Squad to hear the Robbery broadcasts, when it is enabled [not always 24/7 anymore]
