Question Nantucket 800mhz ttunk system

I was just curious if anyone on the cape can get this system? I'm in New Bedford and I get it on a scale of 85-90% all the time which I find interesting. Of course I can only get the fire talkgroup. It seems like Nantucket is about 45 miles southeast or so. Does that sound right?

It all depends on how high and what direction you antennas are placed.

If you're close to the water, you shouldn't have too much trouble hearing it in New Bedford. No terrain between you and Nantucket.

I was able to hear it last year from one the Hy-Line parking lots in Hyannis using my PSR 500 with a trunk mounted mag mount.

From the gate in the Hurricane Barrier to the Ferry Dock in Nantucket is 42.2 n. mi. (about 49 mi.), on a bearing of 134M (SE). The line passes over land at Sconticut Neck, West Island, and Woods Hole.

You can hear it in Rhode Island with a little bit of tropo. It doesn't take much to be received there.

I spend the bulk of the summer at, or out of, FHSY.
