Default TFR Issued for Martha's Vineyard from 8/10-8/18

A temporary flight restriction has been declared by the FAA. Also now is a good time to dust off those search buttons. Fyi I heard Air Force 1 last year on 118.200. I also heard state police on 42.500 and also 853.175 last time he was here.

853.175 is a conventional tactical analog channel. It can be used as repeater or simplex.

There was some activity on USCG Tower frequency 128.425 as well as MSP SOPS-8, MSP RPTR-2 853.95 PL 141.3. Some other frequencies from MMR were also active.

fyi...

Marine Corps MV-22 Ospreys, aircraft that take off vertically, provided a dramatic new look for President Barack Obama’s travel detail as he and the first lady began a Martha’s Vineyard vacation on Saturday.

The Ospreys – making their presidential debut - shuttled White House staff, media and Secret Service members from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod.

http://frontpagemag.com/2013/dgreenf...g-on-vacation/

The Ospreys will not be white tops like the VH-3D Sea King and VH-60 White Hawks, which get their nickname from the white paint job up top. These are the helicopters that carry the President of the United States. Instead, the Ospreys were painted green as they will carry presidential support staff and the media.
The Marines started flight operations with the Osprey on April 26, however the tilt-rotor aircraft will not start carrying reporters and presidential support staff until later in 2013, according to the Marine announcement.

I was getting a hit on NAC:167. It was at 3 signal bars too. The guys were using they're first names. There was also a female.

Just my .02, but in my humble opinion posting POTUS location in a public forum is probably not "ideal". Just sayin'.

Default TFR Issued for Martha's Vineyard from 8/10-8/18

I saw AF 1 land at JBCC! I happened to go to our radio club's shack there on a whim, around noon on Saturday, 8/10.

I was oblivious to the fact that the POTUS was about to land around 3:00pm or so.

We have a shack in the retired Air Force members hut. As I am calling CQ on 20 meters, a retired AF guy sticks his head in the radio room and asks me "when's he landing?" That's how I found out.

The hut is right next to the tarmack! So we (there were several other retired folks there) got a ring side seat, it was great watching the Ospreys land and taxi right in front of us, and then AF 1 landed, what a show!

I'll post some pics soon.

It's public knowledge, in fact there was a whole gaggle of press there, with their own platform to take pictures and videos. Security is very tight.

I think Scotts comments were in reference to the person posting about a dinner time meal location

The national news media knew ahead of time and let anyone who was watching know where they were going for dinner. Although not everyone watches the news or looks at it on the internet.
