Just thought Id share some UID/RID's that Ive logged..FD IDs have be obtained during morning radio tests..There are more IDs for the FD..But these are a good starting point...

PD IDs are too varied,only ones Ive been able to confirm were K9 teams..

Dispatchers are also listed,Ive tagged them and also included the RID in the alpha tag..

They have all been acquired with my 436HP..

Add to them,in replies if you have them...

They are all over the place. Must have been a big box o' radios and they told everybody to grab one.

He means there is no sequence, no pattern to how the programmed ID number relates to the function.
Some places do something like
1001 = FD Chief
1010 = FD Engine 1
1011 = FD E1 Officer
2001 = PD chief
3001 = DPW Superintendent
etc

Yeah,I know the PD Side is like that on a day to day basis..K9 was the only consistant player on the system...PD side that is...
Your right though,,the techs must have been tossin them out like garterbelts at a wedding...

The philadelphia (where I was living) TRS was easy to pin down..18th pd dist was 618XX,,,12th dist was 612XX..9th 609XX...

IT does look (just browsing) like Consoles are 1-2 digits, Vehicles are 3 digits and portables/mobiles are 4 digits (just my WAG)

Some Dept's, it is still, Go in Get a Radio, finish shift, Turn in the radio.
Which then means a different radio each shift.

Others have radios assigned to the Officer on a full-time basis, however his/her cruiser might change each shift.

And for the FD, unless the Radio is specifically marked Ladder 1C, you might find it used by Ladder 1B someday.

The MSP have it down pretty good
74xxxx - Analog Portables where xxxx = Troopers Badge #
75xxxx - Analog Mobiles where (most of the time) xxxx = Cruiser #
76xxxx - Astro Portables
59xxxx = Consoles
64xxxx = Some consoles
65xxxx = Consoles

Yeah,I know the PD Side is like that on a day to day basis..K9 was the only consistant player on the system...PD side that is...

Your right,MSP dose have a solid structure going..

DOC/transport radios are consistent too...Airwinig, K9's...Makes it easy and convenient as far as ID-ing
the user on the air at the time when specialty units are switching TGs regularly...I believe Airwing also has a RID that pops up on the SPD P25..
Hear them one day,but it was on a PSR 500,that was only set ups as a P25 channel,,didnt have my 436 that has it set up as a 1 freq trunk
so I missed that one..

The Springfield FD,,Im wondering if the Ladder/Engine RIDs A,B,C,,,if they are the truck mounted rigs..I also catch stray IDs that sound more like handhelds..

MDC 1200 ID Lists:

Back in the day when MDC PTT-ID displays were limited to the programmed ID (either native hex, decimal equivalent, or padded decimal equivalent), structuring lists was useful or important. However, this greatly complicates list maintenance, as you either had to leave blanks for expansion and changes or you had to go out and touch the entire subscriber fleet if ID reassignments were made.

Nowadays, both consoles and PTT-ID displaying subscribers make use of alias lists that makes life much easier for those of us who maintain systems, since it no longer matters whether Eng1's front mobile and its pump panel mobile use adjacent native IDs.

As for the day-to-day consistency of an ID to function, typical PD and FD deployments are different. Whoever is funtioning as Eng1 officer will always use the portable assigned to that function. However, most police officers have portables assigned to them personally, and the officer's ID doesn't change if he is assigned to Sector 1 one day and Traffic 2 the next day.

Trunked Subscriber IDs:

Here structure, or at least grouping, is important because the ID controls system access and privileges and are programmed in the controller in blocks.

The two main fire channels are repeated, the fireground channels are not.

The hassle with the MDC aliases is that any changes must be reprogrammed into every radio. Some of the DMR based systems allow for the alias to be transmitted eliminating the need for touching the radio for changes.

I just saw this in the news other day might want to see what special hazards radio Ids are the old hazmat 1 now renamed to special hazards unit.
most of the radio Ids come from last four of the serial numbers of the radios.engine 1A 2417 Id I have seen used by the personal In dispatch in the past.
