Exclamation Aspectos legales y aduanales (legal and customs issues)

Hola.

[ I'd like to hear if anybody has information about the legal use of scanners in Mexico, as well as importing them from USA or Europe. I already asked to some US parcel companies and they said that it is not a problem for them as long as the scanner is a brand new one, packed in its original box, but that there is no guarantee that Mexican Customs or Federal Police will allow it to be delivered. They are not sure if a radio scanner is legal in Mexico so they don't guarantee nothing. I'd appreciate your comments]

Roberto.

I think thereīs no problem, in ML i bought 2 scanners (RS 2032 and Uniden -bearcat 350A) I use them with no problems at all, besides I have a handheld RS PRO-82, about bringing it to Mexico, I think itīs better to get it without the box, and mix it with the rest of our stuff, because it is new and itīs nature sometimes they want to get more than you paid for it, I bought 5 scanners on EBAY and my famili brings them when they come to visit...

Depends on who you ask (and because of a loophole in the law) they are allowed and prohibited.
I've taken (several times) a Pro=99 and a Pro-97 by air and land, never with problems. I just take it in my bag, without any frequencies in and in the ham radio band (and always carry my license)

Part of the secret is to not answer what you are not asked, you can say it's for car races or CB, and do not say you have it unless they ask you. I advise against carrying it openly in the street (I always have it under my shirt and with headphones)/.
