That poor thing has been chased for a few years in the area. It has evaded capture and as far as I know caused no harm.
He is sighted every few months.
Just did a search and it first showed up 20 mile and dequider area in nov 2004. Aminal control almost caught it in Rochester Hills in 2006 and there were sightings in Streling Hts last couple of years. Dont know if its the same one though.

Based on all the deer we have, it is surprising we don't have mountain lions here in Michigan, .

My uncle lives in Ludington and he has spotted a cougar/mountain lion twice, and he dosent think it was the same one. I have family in the UP who have multiple sightings also.
Kinda scary eh?

I like to fish at night too, and lately it's been giving me the creeps...as if something in the woods is watching me.

Where exactly do you like to fish at, and how strong is this feeling you receive about being watched?

My range is pretty large...from Northwest of Lansing to just North of Saginaw. At times I can log 300+ miles (2 nights/3days - camping throught the state) in an outing as I seek my quarry. However, a huge percentage is a few miles above and below the 45th parallel. Great Lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, creeks...if it's got the fish I seek, I'm in it.
2 yrs ago I ventured out towards Minnesota/Wisconsin. It was a blast. Now I plan a trip out there once a year. The same with Northern Ontario.
The feeling is strong, and I've concluded that it is a natural survival instinct.

Too funny! Had it been real it probably would have ripped the cops balls off! Panther's don't think..."Gee maybe I better behave myself, I've just been Tasered". It would just be real pissed!

This has been an ongoing saga here in Southern Ontario the past few years as well. Multiple cougar sightings but nothing really concrete to substantiate them. Last year there was a horse out in a field that was mauled and killed by 'something' and the general belief is that it was a cougar. A few summers ago my wife and I happened to catch an MNR Officer (Ministy of Natural Resources) on the radio who was following 2 cats through a field... he was some distance away but he said it looked like an adult and youngster... they hopped a fence and disappeared into the brush.

My brother was in a woods near Rockford, Mi when he and his family heard a shrill screeching sound near them in the woods. Upon inspection it was a doe whitetail deer screeming with a cougar on it's back. It made it to the neck and collapsed and killed the deer. He was 75yds away and did watch the cougar drag the deer into the thickets. I will my brothers name and number to anyone that asks and will leave theirs. I have mixed feelings about this between a lost "Pet" and a wild animal.
