<<TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - A single engine plane tonight crashed after takeoff from the Oakland/Troy Airport.

Airport officials say the plane was attempting to take off and lost power. The pilot apparently tried to land in a nearby Walmart parking lot, but the plane clipped a shopping cart corral and went back up in the air and over the strip mall and restaurant. It then crashed in a field behind the shopping center. Fire trucks arrived on the scene to attend to a small fire in the plane.

The pilot was the only person on board. He was not hurt.>>

Small airplane crashed after losing power on takeoff. Only the pilot was onboard and was not hurt.
