Breaking: 5 Royal Oak Schools On 'Alert Status'
Search For Man Who Fled Police Car Is Under Way

ROYAL OAK, Mich. -- Five Royal Oak schools are on "alert status," which is a step down from a lockdown, while police look for a man who jumped out of a police car on Woodward and ran.
School officials said nobody is allowed to enter or exit the following schools:

# Jane Adams Elementary
# Northwood Elementary
# Alfred E. Upton Elementary
# Royal Oak Middle School
Royal Oak High School
All of the schools are near the area where the man fled from police.
Police said a man jumped from a police car when it stopped at a traffic signal on 13 Mile and Woodward roads.
Investigators believe the man may be armed and is moving to the west side of the city.
Police are actively searching near 13 Mile and Coolidge roads.
Police have not said why the man was in police custody.
