I would get banned for what I really truly want to say about JENNY and her Liberal Canadian b/s she is pulling with MSP in Lansing.

What a waste of money, time and effort she is.

Default Update

From a 2nd District Trooper.

Quote:
It's happening as we speak. The thirty troops got their pink slips today and the layoff takes effect on 04-01-07. Hopefully, the state legislature will step in and settle this before it becomes a reality.

This is complete crap that she has to compromise public safety to maintain a budget. Not trying to get off topic but I this is just as bad as her idea of trying to "reduce the jail and prison pop. without putting the public in jeopardy", which is completely impossibe.

What do you expect from government officials? They are book smart and not street smart. You know it would never happen, but let's see them take a pay cut and live like us common folks. Or better yet, let's see them live for a month in a high crime area.

Let's close some parks or something. How about we take some of the security away from Jennifer Granholm's secuirty team to help with the deficit? It is ok to cut the people to protect us but not the people that protect her.
Take those officers they plan to lay off, and have them do speed enforcment only and that will pay for there salary plus.

I'm calling my rep because apparently some of the guys are calling Lansing to try and stop this from happening beyond the 30 layoffs.

Once she starts she won't stop.

What many people do not understand or refuse to believe (not meaning you, skud) is that Michigan State Police receives NEARLY NOTHING from civil infraction tickets issued under state statute. Who gets the money? Well, the Michigan legislative retirement system receives some, as does the Judges Retirement System. Much of the money is disbursed to the county in which the citation was issued. Your local library, if it is county funded, is a large reciepient of traffic fine monies.

Money is disbursed to police agencies (including the MSP) via the Justice Training Fund, which is basically a training fund set up for MCOLES to conduct training to Michigan's police officers. The money is used for, well, training.

To break down a $75 moving violation (in 1999 dollars):
$20 County Libraries
$31 Court with jurisdiction over the ticket
$7.35 Statewide disbrusement to district courts
$4.50 County Sheriff (secondary road patrol, which is out of MSP's budget to
begin with)
$3.47 Michigan Justice Training Fund
$0.87 Civil Indigent Defense
$0.73 Colleges & Universities
$0.45 Judges Retirement System
$.030 Legislative Retirement System
$0.26 Michigan State Supreme Court
$.020 Michigan Dept. of Corrections

In 1999, for every moving violation issued, the MSP recived a grand total of: $5.87

Troopers write under Michigan State Statute. Many local agencies (cities, townships, villages) write under local ordinance corresponding to the state statute which allows the bulk of the fine (in this case, $51.00) to go directly to the cities' coffers.

So, it is not difficult to see that the MSP does not issue citations in order to generate revenue for themselves. The arguement is always raised that MSP intiated the click it or ticket campaign to raise money. Untrue; 1) its federal money and 2) Michigan has something like a 95% belt rate today because awareness has been heightened.

I've always been told that if you get a ticket from a trooper you probably, deserved it! Now if the trooper was an avid reader who was at his local library every other day, my suspicions might be raised a bit...

Anyone who wishes to peruse a nice 42 page report on ticket fines, the click below:

That should change a little I would say, but the most part, fire and police should never be the point of saving money. There are other non esstionals that should be considered first.
All of us hate some type of tax increase, raise the gas tax by 1 cent or something. Most people would never really notice. I do know if these officers do get laid off, atleast they will have other police departments that would hire them.

Let me just say that I am outraged! This is crazy. I have taken the step to contact my representitive, you should too if you live here in Michigan. It wont take long and all you have to do is enter your state and zip and it knows who it is.

Take a moment and type them a letter!

I think you'd be better off writing to your State Senator and State Rep in Lansing instead of those in Washington, DC.

I can't divulge my source on this but he works for the state in one capacity.

TRUTH
Quote:
Jenny has taken money away from all of the public service sectors
such as fire depts, police depts and now the state police. I remember
her telling the public during the elections that the states budget was
in check and no problems, well one again she has lied to the public.
Less then 2 weeks after winning the election she states she didn't say that and that if she did she misspoke. She also said the same thing to schools/colleges to go ahead give your yearly raises because there is funding to cover this. Well there never was/and their won't be because it wasn't there to start with but teachers being in the political party they are believed her entire line of horse crap and nonsense. When she came out and said there isn't money that she has to now make cuts well she blammed the reps/senators/congressmen of the conservative side for making up the mistruth then "forcing" her to say it. BULLCRAP another lie she gave to us all folks. Its odd how when she refused to give tax breaks to vendors, factories and bussiness leaving the state that when they were interview they all said they are being taxed out of their frigging goard and a tax cut/break or leavy would have prevented them from packing up and moving. Increasing taxes wont solve the problem, it will only allow her to spend more money on other stupid projects like an addition to the Govenors Cabin on Mackinaw which is a $600,000+ cabin on the island which she refused to sell for money when offered $2.2 million for it 3 years ago.

FACT
Quote:
What up sets me is that people keeps electing her back into office
People don't know it but, since she cancelled the contract with geo,
the private prison in Baldwin, the state is still paying Geo 1.4 million
a year to keep the prison empty. The contract between the state
and geo was a two parter, part one was that they state could remove
their prisoners at any time(which she did), part two was that the
state of Michigan would continue to pay geo 1.4 million a year on the
lease of the building for the next thirteen years, that left on the
contract. Now the state prison system is a complete joke, not
enought bed space for the rasing number of new convicts coming
into the system for their crimes.
Why would she contract with a empty prision for the amount of money she has for them to be told not to fill it or use it. At this time it's currently staffed but no immnates are there because she want's it to sit empty. INTERESTING TO SAY THE LEAST.....

PROVOCATIVE INSIGHT
Quote:
I don't know how much more she thinks she can take away from the public without jeopardizing the safety and welfare of the public.

Jennifer Granholm, Debbie "Do Nothing" Stabbenow, John "Dinkus" Dingel can say/day and act as they wish and blame the President for all the monitary problems plaguing the state but the current state of our budget is all Granholms and her croanies. She spent more money when we didn't have it then any other gov we have had yet to date. Sure Engler was a duche bag and didn't work with education but neither has Jenny. INFACT she says she is pro public schools but then why did her kids to go private schools all their lifes? Why did she vote against all public school elections for millages, and money, and other important issues but voted for school vouchers, voted in all and in favor of all private school elections? She also at one time proposed that all private schools receive state funding because their foundations were more stable and stronger then those in public schools.

I had the unfortunate displeasure of meeting her at my work a few years back, she shook my hand (Yes I made a mistake and did it!) but her hand was weak, cold, and limp with no emotion and her eyes were like ice total and complete nothingness but cold hearted vengefull hatered for people. Her personna wasn't open or friendly but more so empty and emotionless. Not something I feel we need as a govenor.

What about her trip to Japan to seek out Toyota 2 years ago to gain their factories in the state? Why was it she said she met with them but when the Govenors of Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky were interviewed they all said Michigans govenor was no where to be found and never showed to the meetings at all? Hmmmm Thusly those states obtained a multi billion dollar a year automotive company which is growing more and more and which keeps more then 85% of its earnings in the United States and 1/2 of that stays in the states they are based in. Mainly the following Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Indianopolis, Indiana; Georgetown, Kentucky; Cincinatti, Ohio. How come the business is there and not here? Becuase she didnt' seek out the business like she said she did, she took an expensive trip to Japan for pleasure and not business.

The sad thing is that non of this came out during the election because her opponant didn't do his homework properly. I supported Devos but I think he needs to pull his head out his rear and find out what worked in the past for him and his company when his dad ran it and not to play the big political game of hide and seek.

Ive been told that the Nations Governers Conference will be the end of this month in Traverse City. Good old Jenny has ordered 300 troopers from all over the state to go their for a week and protect them.
Thought their was a budget crunch in effect. Seems that the MSP are down below a thousand total, first time in over 30 years. Now almost a third are headed to T.City.
Funny how the wheels of goverment turn isnt it?

Question MSP Trooper cuts

I think a recall petition needs to start circulating around this state.

I wonder if one of the so called Investigative Reporters around this state would be willing & able to investigate the private prison mess?

I was going to say the same thing. It seems they'd be more sensitive to the situation than a rep in DC.
