Michigan Speedway Area Scanning
Hi all,
I'm heading to the Nascar race next weekend at MIS and I'm planning on bringing my BC250 along. Anyone know what site's frequencies would be my best bet to throw in the scanner? From looking at the list, it would seem that Adrian is closest to the speedway. I realize I'll have to listen to these freq's in conventional mode, but that's not a big deal. Does MSP use any conventional channels for special events such as this? Any simplex or mobile repeater freq's worth listening to? While I'm on the topic of the MIS area, if someone could point me to any other freq's of interest for the area (EMS, Fire, Sheriff's Dept etc etc) I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks!

Michigan Speedway
The Speedway is actually in the city of Brooklyn, which is right on the boarder of Jackson and Lenawee Counties.
Here is a link for Jackson County Frequencies:

Thanks... I actually just found that page myself. I know from being there in the past I've seen a mixture of Jackson County and Lenawee County Sheriff's dept units around. Haven't been able to find any Lenawee County frequencies around yet though....

The MIS is located just inside Lenawee County. However, since the parking area goes into Jackson County, they often assist Lenawee County.
In the past the Michigan State Police have operated a mobile command post on 155.865 MHz, which is the M.E.P.S.S. frequency.
This allows Jackson, Lenawee and MSP to all inter-communicate.
The local tower for the MSP TRS uses the following frequencies:
866.9250 867.4375 867.9375 868.4375, 868.9375
MSP may also use:
866.0125
866.5125
867.0125
867.5125
868.0125
Lenawee County Central Dispatch uses:
155.190 Dispatch PL 118.8
155.565 Secondary PL 118.8
Lenawee County Fire:
156.105 Dispatch PL 85.4
154.295 Fireground
EMS:
860.9625 Brooklyn area
155.295 MIS
155.280 Incident command

Also, Skywarn repeaters:
145.370 - Lenawee County (85.4 Hz PL)
146.880 + Jackson County (100.0 Hz PL)
147.060 + Hillsdale County
Never know, you might need these freqs.

Thanks very much! I've been going to MIS every June and August for better part of 20 years, but never really bothered to use the scanner for anything other than listening to the drivers and teams. Figure I might as well load up the public safety freq's and listen to the campground chaos that Friday and Saturday night usually brings

You might want to program the FRS frequencies in also, they can get rather interesting.

It's that time of year again! I'm heading back to MIS next weekend and I'm just wondering if the info above is still valid. Most of the activity in and around the campgrounds last year was on the MEPSS channel (there was a Sheriff's Dept bike nearby, and I stole a look at the display on his radio ). Is this still expected to be the primary interagency channel for the area? Or have they perhaps migrated into the MSP system. I'll be bringing my Pro96 with me this time, so scanning should be a lot more enjoyable!
Thanks all for the helpful information....

MSP is still the only agency in that area on MPSCS so I doubt they'd be linking anyone into it for this event...

That is so true! It's so easy to load everything right into the scanner via software, than doing it all by hand, complete with alpha-tags. Where was this technology when I was a kid?
