Default Jackson County mpscs questions.

I just got a pro96 a few days ago and have been playing around with it. I live on the west side of the city of jackson closer to spring arbor. I have programmed the albion tower control freq 868.9250 and pick this tower up with a good signal, It shows up on the pro96 as T010E. I have also programmed what I think is the jackson tower on control freq 868.0625 and pick this tower up good also. The thing is this is supposed to tower 120 but it shows up as T0114 on the pro96, which I have also seen the albion tower refered to. So I guess Im just a little confused if I really have the jackson tower programmed or just another freq on the albion tower. I have also seen the jackson tower refered as tower 112 which has me more confused because I thought it was tower 120. Then theres the munith tower 105, I cant seem to find the control channel for this tower. Does anyone know what this channel might be? I know alot of you might think these are dumb questions but Im a noob.lol

The issue here is the way the Pro-96 displays the tower number. Tower numbers in the Pro-96 are displayed in a hexidecimal (base 16) representation, and are displayed in a decimal representation here in the database. (The Decimal representation is actually correct on 9600bps systems).

Tower numbers are done in two parts. On the Pro-96 they are displayed as Tzztt where zz is the zone, and tt is the tower number within that zone.

The Albion tower shown above, on teh Pro-96 shows as T010E or Zone 1, tower E (Hex) which converts to 14 decimal. Put together in the RR format gives you 114 for Albion.

The Jackson tower displays on the Pro-96 as T0114 (Zone 1, Tower 14 Hex or 20 Decimal or tower 120).

now it makes sence. Thanks for taking the time to explain that.

I have added the munith tower now and im not recieving it so well. I have a discone in my attic at this point which is about 25ft at the top. I may try to get a dedicated 800mhz antenna like a yagi or a fiberglass rod. Im thinking the yagi is a directional style by the looks of it and the fiberglass more of a multi diectional. I guess I will do some more research to figure the best route to take.

As far as the new state digital system. There seems to be very little traffic on this so far around jackson. Most of it seems to be complaint numbers or letting the post know there gonna be out eating doughnuts. lol. Most of the msp traffic is still on the county system which booms in full strength everywhere ive been with my scanner. The couny system also sounds way more legible than this new digital system. I hope this doesnt end up being another huge waste of tax payer money.
