If you're new to skywarn, I'd say Eaton counties class will be fine for you.
The one given in Ingham is longer, a bit more interesting, but could be a bit 'too much' for someone just thinking of the idea. When I attended I got to hear a lecture from the son of the fellow responsible for the 'F-scale' and the microburst theories. There was even a local meteorologist that spoke!
If there's something specific you're looking for and cant find in Eaton, let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.
Do you happen to have a amateur radio license yet? I can point you towards that skywarn net too.
(Although, I have no secret info, all of it's in the database under Eaton County)
