Default Benzie County

Benzie County just upgraded radio system and I guess they are changing frequencies also. How would you obtain the TX, RX Freq along with PLs for Fire/EMS??? I got the freqs from the FCC ULS. How do I find out the rest of the info???

Looks like they got 155.01 and 155.625. There old ones were for East and West side, so I assume these will be the same.

Thanks,
Nick

I never heard they are going digital. I looked under the FCC ULS and got the new freqs. Put them in my scanner and hear them just as they were on the old freqs. All I know who is digital in this area so far is the MSP.

I would be interested in what you find out on this. Is the FD going to stay on the old radios. It is possible that Benzie Sherriff would go on the MSP state system I guess. What about Grand Traverse County.

Close to a year ago they did a test in Grand Traverse with the 800mhz system. From what I understand they are going to stick with the high band system and they got a grant to update dispatch consoles, towers, and repeaters. Also the cost of leasing the system and radio prices to use the system are more then what they want to pay. They are in the process of doing it now. MPS in GTC obviously have both systems in there vehicles. Central dispatches MSP on high band. County Sheriffs do not have 800 in there vehicles as far as Im aware of. The FD, EMS, and Law Enforcement in GT will remain on high band. Also from what I hear Benzie is staying on high band also. I hear them on the freqs I pulled from the FC ULS, so I dont know what there plans are for the future.

Nick617,
I'm looking for the new frequency codes for Benzie Co. Would you be willing to share the ones you have? I believe we have the new one for the sheriffs dept., 155.910 but sometimes we only get one end of the conversation.

Thanks in Advance

Fire (East) 159.21000 MHz 97.4
Fire (West) 154.86000 MHz 186.2

Those are the only 2 I have for FIRE. I know the WEST one is no longer working. EAST works sometimes. I dont care too much about law enforcement. Since Im a fire fighter I usually just scan Fire/EMS, but for grand traverse I do have law enforcement. I do not have there new frequencies or PLs yet. I have to try to scan for them. Have not had much time latley.

Im not sure if benzie changed freqs for law enforcement, fire, and EMS or they just did fire. I will try to listen and see!

Let us not forget that GT County simulcasts on the digital system, talkgroup 28COM. I have heard MSP units call into GT dispatch on the county's simulcast talkgroup, and GT replied. So they are listening to both. Also, there are some other GT agencies that use the digital TRS.

I can't imagine that Benzie will hop onto the digital bandwagon anytime soon. However, it looks like they got a group ID so the dispatch will be able to do the same thing as GT.

Antrim County, for example, monitors State-wide 7 in their dispatch center. MSP will call Antrim on either channel, depending on what the conversation might be about.

Hope that didn't confuse anyone!
