Default MPSCS Benzie/Leelanau/Grand Traverse Counties

On the MPSCS DB it is noted that each one of these counties has a dispatch TG. Are all of these TG's in use or are they simulcasts. Also is the Benzie County FD for Almira TWP on the MPSCS TG or are they still on 154.430. Will be in the area soon and wanted to know to see if it is worth bringing my scanner, thanks.

Jack,
I don't live in the area, but have visited this past summer and found most of the county stuff still on VHF. To answer your question, it's always worth bringing the scanner !

All three are still on VHF, but they also simulcast on the MPSCS. Leelanau county uses the MPSCS more than the other 2, as all the SO's (and tribal PD) portables are digital (mobiles are still analog). The MPSCS is pretty quiet up here though. MSP and CO's usually go through each counties central dispatch. Most of the other traffic is non-public safety related.

To be honest I don't listen to Benzie at all, never have. So I'm not sure about the accuracy of the freqs listed in the DB. I've never been able to find anyone locally in Benzie that could tell me either. The best you could do is enter the freqs listed in the DB and listen for a unit calling for getting a call from "600". Thats what they call their dispatch I believe.
