I have a RS Pro96 and when im listening to livonia the trunk ID always comes up with 38320 for everything and then when i go to save that id it tells me the id is invalid. What is the problem?

well firstly, to listen to an edacs, u need to dedicate a whole bank to it on the pro96.

-Lets say we use bank 0. Press program, function, trunk....and set bank 0 to EDACS.

- Then, u need to program the frequencies...***BUT*** do not program into channel "000".

(01) 866.71250 (02) 867.30000 (03) 867.78750 (04) 868.30000 (05) 868.82500

***Chronologically input the freqs....leave 000 blank, 001 you program the (01) freq that's above. 002 program the (02) freq that's above, 003 program the (03) freq that is above, and so on. So the only channels that should be programed are 001, 002, 003, 004, 005.

After that, you should be able to hit scan and it should work...

yea, with EDACS, 99% of the time its programing errors, because it truly is one of a kind...not simply program the freq, there's a whole order thing to it.

And also, when you start listening...livonia PD dispatch is for some reason quiet on the 96. Not sure why, but ive met 4 other people who say LPD dispatch is very quiet, including myself (as in volume, its hard to hear). On our radios tho its just fine, so its gotta be something with the scanner. But yea, livonia is fun to listen to, i have two of their pursuits recorded onto my youtube page which is in my signature.

I wish that system was just a little stronger. I can get it in my mobile 5 miles from my house, but from my house I get nothing but a CC so weak it won't lock.

ALso, I don't know what the deal is, but I haven't been able to get Ingham EDACS for months when I used to get it every night.

The Livonia EDACS systems days may be numbered. A recent Free Press article Canton, Livonia optimistic about merging dispatch | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press
said that Livonia is in the process of replacing its radio system. Nothing was said about what type of new system was being considered. However, I did read somewhere that they would like to have it up and running by the end of 2010, that is if they can scrape up the money with projected city budget shortfalls.

MPSCS is being looked at, but like you said...budget is a big problem now. Theyve been looking at MPSCS since 2004 i believe, but at this point i dont think anything is set in stone. Livonia has been trying to merge dispatches for a while...first with farmington hills, now canton. i think its a good idea and they should follow through. Farmington Hills has already proved it possible with dispatching both Farmington hills PD and FD, along with Franklin PD. Either way, it saves money and gets the job done.
