Default prob not

As a repo agent here in sc I can tell you that a vehicle cant be repoed just by running it through a system at the spur of the moment. You must first be contracted to the financial institution, and then have the proper paperwork in your hand,(right to cure, contract, ect).you would have to run the plate and vin through the banks computer. I have seen in big cities, where a city official rides around running vins and tags looking for stolen vehicles, parking ticket violators, and past due tax vehicles.I would be willing to bet thats what your hearing.I hope this helped you. This site has helped me soooooo much,I figured I would try to help someone in return

Considering the Freq is licensed to the State of Michigan, likely it's not Repo Men, more like the FISH Cops

The Frequency is for the Dept of Natural Resources

PS, the RR Database is your friend. Give it a try

The freq has a couple listings for the city of Kentwood, the rest are for Mich DNR.
If someone is using it for plate checks sounds like they're using it illegally or the FCC database isn't up to date.

I looked in the database and I see that about the DNR but these guys were checking cars at homes and all the auto at homes .one car came back to a women and the other guy said run all cars with her name .Also they said the one car came back good but they would have to dispatch the someone out . Then ok whats next in the area .Using 4 letter words dont sound like state people to me.They sure didnt know how to use radios talking over each other .I guess I keep it in the radio and see if i can get more info today

I'm not disputing what you're hearing, I'm not listening. Just weird that what you hear and what the license says it is doesn't make sense. Now if it were boat registrations being checked that might be different.

Check your pm.

Why would DNR be doing such an operation? And again - why would they use separate radios from their regular ones (800) to do it?

How about the PL/DPL too, maybe someone picked up some used Radios at a FLEA?? or another agency has been allowed to use the channel?

Here in New England, the DNR [DCR, DNR, Fish & Game etc] doesn't just handle Water, they patrol on Land [Hunting, Animals, ATV's and Snowmobile issues] as well

I think that's the purpose of this thread DNR is more than just water, even in Michigan.

159.360 Oakland County
159.330 State of Michigan
Could be one of these ??

Heard some talk on 159.345 around 1430 today.
Was to weak to pick out or was on freqs next to 159.345
By the time I got to radio it was gone.
I'll keep monitoring

Heard the exact same thing last night here in Ypsilanti. Sounded like a repo of some sort and kept mentioning finance companies and banks. Not really a whole lot to identify them though. No PL/DPL. I thought it was a surveillance team at first because they followed the car home.

Same freq. I put this frequency in my radio after reading this post when it began, so it took me a while to figure out why this even came up on my scanner.

Guys are back today. Running vin checks. Some talk of LEIN. I had put this freq in my 2 meter to monitor and finally heard them. From the sounds and words used they could be pro.

Some sort of Private Investigator??
Not familiar how they operate but kinda sounds like (from what youre saying) is not MSP or any Police Department.

They give any type of unit number when calling? or just start talking like a couple kids on a 2-way radio?

I am saying they are LEO
They have acess to the LIEN system.
And the terms used
Although them seem to talk like they are not being monitored.
