Default I need help programming a Pro 106 in Genesee Co

I just bought a new Pro 106 but I can't figure out how to program it. I think I got the frequencies in now how do I put in the talkgroups? The manual and Wiki's are way too complicated. I can't afford to buy any software either. Someone please help. I'm beginning to think 2 months of saving was for nothing.

If you have a radioshack near by they will program it for you. Im from Chippewa Co. and i brought mine in told them the counties i wanted programed in to it, they hooked it up to their system, and in an hour I had my scanner programmed. Some people I have talked to said that their local radioshacks were not as helpful. But its worth a try.

You get a free trial run on most of the software programs..give them a try,it is much easier that way. Also check out the software forum, should help too.

Exclamation Programming is Easy!

I had your same problem then i went to psredit.com search for pro-106 and PSR-500. You will get a month trial on the software. You do need the cable from RS but it is worth the money. Play around with it or if you are a premium sub. to RadioRef you can just upload the data from the website and write it to the scanner. I can program one of these in a matter of 30 mins or less now. Questions give me a yell justonymsu@hotmail.com

Default radio shack pro-106

depending on what type of system it is you may only have to store the frequencies that are designated as control channels, there are primary control channels which are in red and alternate control channels which are in blue, you have to store both primary and alternate control channels, ounce you do this you can start monitering, and you can assign alpha tags as you come across talkgroup ID's,hope this helps.

As he mentioned above, he already has the control channels plugged in. He's looking for help with the talkgroups. In any case, his questions have been answered on the other thread he started.

Actually I still have no idea why i can't get it to work as I'm demonstrating on my other thread. I started this thread in hopes someone local could help me out.
