Thanks for reply's,

Where to start?

I have done some searching and found a freq list for Isabella county and started to input all of the freq's. Last night I was looking over the list and noticed the key's for the columns. Found that some that I had input where digital and since my scanner is analog those are not going to work. However some of them do. I am not sure if they are in the process of switching or the database in wrong, or maybe I am wrong. I noticed the jail and courthouse is digital and on my scanner I do get static transmissions, so I assume that digital is correct. MMR is listed as digital but I can hear that one. If I remember correctly CMU Police is digital but I can hear that as well.

Are there any trunks in the area? What do you recommend for mobile and base antennas? When to use attenuation? Squelch setting? Ahhh Information overload!

Default Isabella

Try this list right here on Radioreference. I only see one digital frequency in it.

hi weoxstan well now let me try to make this easy and simple for you . so your not so overloaded lol:P

plain and smiple pretty much most of mount pleasant is still on the OLD analog system. and does NOT

have any plains on going to the 800 system unless the GOVERMENT PUSHES them to do it . and you

can find the numbers for the OLD analog system in the database here . as they are listed properly .and as

of right now mmr is on a half and half setup meaning in mount pleasant they still use the old analog

numbers . but other areas they cover like saginae they use the 800 system . again just like the rest of

mount pleasant CMU is on the OLD analog system still. and iam not sure if they will go to the 800

system or stay on the OLD analog system alone with mount pleasant due in part that at times mount

pleasant police have CMU police help them out when they need it and are short handed. also too the

trible police use the old analog system . but they do have a talk group on the 800 system but never use it

and for right now the only ones that are on the 800 system is the msp and the drug police.are the ONLY

ONES on the 800system as of right now . but i can tell you this much ictc bussing system by the end of

the fall will be going to the 800 system . with there own talk groups and such . . also too i can tell you that

clare county is on the 800system and you can pick them up too as well . so for now thats where mount

pleasant stands for now . Are there any trunks in the area. to answer that they only trucked system here

in mount pleasant is dte energy. and they are listed in the database here too also.

What do you recommend for mobile . for the mobile end of it . i would recomend useing this antena from

radio shack 800MHz Scanner Antenna - RadioShack.com

as i use it . and it works well . there is a bigger rubber ducky from radio shack i also use . for 20.00$

that they do not have listed on there web site . which also works very well for here . even tho iam

not able to use a base antena where i live at right now . i do recomend this base antena from scanmasters

as its the best one and pretty much everyone i know uses this antena too.
Laird Y8066 Yagi Base Antenna

and as far as the Squelch setting goes . for me i got mine set at the point where it will trip when it picks

up the singles . but will not trip when something random ie trucks cars hit it . and as for the

When to use attenuation? as for that i have not used it . and have not found the need for it myself as of yet.

and iam not sure what scanner you are useing weoxstan as you did not say . but if you are useing the

pro96 digital scanner . i can send you a pm . with the p96 file i use for here on my pro96 scanner . if

you like . that way you can get everything that is covered for here . and you can see what you can pick up

and what you can not pick up. so if you let me know what scanner your useing . and if you like to get

my p96 file from me . just let me know and i,ll post the file for you then . and i hope this is of some help

to you weoxstan

Thanks djmusic for that info.
Sorry about not having my scanner listed I thought I had it in my signature. I have a RS Pro-164. Not sure if the 96 file will work or not. I am using win97 software right now. I think that will read the 96 file but I am not sure of it.

hi weoxstan np at all glad to help. and thats cool as i have done that before too lol. and now i know

what scanner you are useing . even tho i do not have a pro164 scanner . i can tell it should do well with

the analog siginals that mount pleasant. and surounding areas use. but iam sorry to say iam not sure if

it will be able to pick up msp useing that scanner. cuase i dont have one. but if you decied to upgrade

your scanner and get the pro-106 scanner then . you can get all the bells and whistels . and have lots of

interesting litstening then and with the pro-106 haveing privte i-calling. that the msp use . it will make it

even more better . and very enjoyable too. as some of the stuff you can here on the msp and dnr systems

is really a hoot . and iam not sure if the win97 can read the win96 files . as i have not tryed it . so i would

not know if it did or not . but maybe someone eles might know that information.

Thanks for the info. I am putting up a 20-30ft tower this weekend and was looking at the Procomm Spider antenna, although I have not purchased anything as of yet.
