Oakland County EMS Question
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what Ambulance service took over the 911 contract areas in Oakland county that AMR used to cover.I haven't been around that area in quite awhile.Last time I was there I think it was a company called Paramed.I could be wrong.

No Paramed was bought out by AMR
Quick history
there was Fleet and Suburan and Riverside
They got together and formed Paramed
Paramed bought out Riverside
Community Emergency Medical Service formed
AMR bought out Paramed
AMR left
Today the following cover parts of Oakland
Alliance Mobile Health owned by Huron Valley Ambulance
Huron Valley Ambulance
Star EMS
Community Emergency Medical Service

It changes from time to time but last info I have is
Alliance and CEMS covers most of the events
Most Fire depts in Oakland have taken on the task as ALS provider for their citys and Townships
Alliance covers Oak Park ,Troy, Clawson and transports for Southfield
CEMS covers Rochester City and Possiby some in the north east county along with fire
North West Oakland along Livingston is covered by Huron Valley Ambulance and Fire Depts.

Ah, the winds of change............I hardly hear anything fom EMS off any VHF channel in OC anymore.
Many , many, many moons ago, ( late 70's to early 80's) I worked as a medic at the Salvation Army Camp in Leonard. Some 30 years later I ran into the former ATFD chief from back then in our apparatus shop.
Happy 4th of July to everyone.
Stay Safe.

You're mostly correct, but seem to have left out Star EMS, which is based in Pontiac.
Star is the ALS provider for: White Lake, Highland, Springfield, Bloomfield Hills, Orion Twp, and backup ALS for Pontiac, Waterford, and Independence Twp. We provide BLS transporting service to Bloomfield Twp, Birmingham, and Waterford. We also took over the cooperative agreement that AMR had with the city of Auburn Hills (Star provides three BLS rigs and one medic to staff their ALS unit with one of their medics).

Sorry, must have missed it.
That frequency is licensed to us, but it's only used for events at Ford Field (concerts, that football team that plays down there, etc.). Day-to-day ops are done on the LTR system that Les referenced.
I started out at Paramed in 1991, and came here when AMR announced they were closing. Literally, within two hours of getting the phone call about AMR, I had a conditional job offer here.
