Default MPSCS Rebanding ? Pro 96

Hello all, I have had my pro96 for a number of years now and used to listen to the western wayne county system, now I live in central northern Michigan and my only digital choice is the state police.
With all the discussions I have read about rebanding, My questions is am I missing a lot by not having the custom table programmed into my scanner?
It does seem as I dont hear much activity on the state system anymore.
Do I have to change the frequencies and talk groups in the scanner program also?
This may seem like a stupid question but the only programming I have done to this was the western wayne county system and the state system way back when I got the scanner,
Thanks for any info anyone can provide. Mike

For the MPSCS, the only thing you'll need to do it reprogram the frequencies for the tower sites you listen to once they are rebanded. You don't need to enter a custom table for this system. Other than the frequencies, you shouldn't have to change anything else on the MPSCS.

Default rebanding

thanks for the quick replly, I know this will also sound stupid but gotta ask anyway.
I live in Mecosta county, how would I know for certain which towers to program?
this whole system is complicated to me, I just dont totally understand it.
I have heard from my house here traffic from I-696 downstate and also heard someone crossing the mackinaw bridge
thats where the confusion comes from I guess. thanks again. Mike

hi mike maybe i can be of some help to you too.as i live in mount pleasant for the most part mecosta

is still on the old analog system. as well as is mount pleasant . but the good news is this mike. and

this will be the tower information you need . which most of the triific your hear is comeing from out of

grand rapids . which they are listed in the datebase . but the towers you need to program are

big rapids 867.90000a 868.17500c halls conners 867.38750a 868.88750c sunriselake 867.36250a

867.38750a 867.86250c harrison 868.43750a 868.93750c phelps 868.46250a 868.96250c

and lasty beal city 867.97500a 868.47500c . and then from there mike you need to program in post 60

as well as the 800 numbers for clare and beal city and dnr 6 talk groups if you listen to them . and the

Region 6 Medical Control Authority Talkgroups and Mason County (53) Common/Mutual Aid Talkgroups

as well as the fire talkgroups for mason county as you will be able to pick them up too. and

Mecosta County (54) Talkgroups as well as the Osceola County (67) Talkgroups too. and then from there

program all the grand rapids talkgroups in. and see what all you can pick up. as that is where pretty much

most of your traffic will come from but you also to or should be able to pick up clare and beal city towers

depending on the area of the county your in . but also too make sure you do program the Osceola

County talk groups too. as they and Mecosta county. have there radios systems together for the 911

system there !! i hope this is of some help to you mike and if you need anymore help or have any more

questions . just post or pm me

don

What you hear on the MPSCS towers in your area depends on what system users are in your area, and what talkgroups they tuned into...

You'll hear a lot of MDOC traffic from all over the state. You'll also hear other talkgroups from areas like the U.P. and Detroit on occasion as well. That's part of the power of a statewide system like the MPSCS.
