Default Twin Township Ambulance

I noticed Twin Township Ambulance has its own talkgroup now. Does this mean they're self dispatching now? I thought they were dispatched by Shiawassee Co. Or is it both?

TTA is still dispatched by Shiawassee County Dispatch. This new talkgroup is there agency's private channel. Hope this cleared things up for you.

I looked them up though and it said they serve Genesee, Saginaw and Gratiot too. Seems like it'd make more sense for them to dispatch themselves.

Why does that make more sense? Then you need to hire dispatchers and set up a wide-area radio system. Seems using the structure currently in place would be a better (and cheaper) method.

Hello? MPSCS IS a wide area system. And if they have their own talkgroup on it they probably already have a base person and a phone.

I had a friend who worked there several years ago. At that time, they were toned out by Shiawassee county on the VHF frequency, but their actual dispatch was contracted out to MMR in Saginaw.

Don't know if that's still the case. But with MMR moving into Shiawassee in the last couple of years, that seems pretty logical.

Okay what I want to know is what the talkgroup 1622 is actually used for. the database says "EMS Dispatch" but if Shiawassee Co. does it why not just use the countywide tg 1588?

TTA is NOT dispatched by MMR for calls into Saginaw County. For calls that they respond to in Saginaw and Genesee Counties, they receive a phone call to there base letting them know where to respond. For all calls in Shiawassee County, they are dispatched by Shiawassee County Dispatch on VHF (simulcasted on trunk).

I do not believe that they are responding into Gratiot County.

As for the purpose of the private TGID. This could be used for admin, rig to rig, rig to base, etc.

Hope this helps. If you need anymore clarification, please feel free to PM me.
