Default changes in Ingham Co.

I am hearing data signals on 453.050 today, as well as yesterday. This frequency is one of the set frequencies for the Ingham Co. Trunked system.

Must just be transmitting from outcounty (Mason?) as I was barely able to pick up the CC in downtown Lansing. Getting nothing out here on the west side of town.

I could not hear the CC down here by Ann Arbor, but a friend of mine who lives just north of Chelsea could hear it quite well from his location, which is just off Waterloo Road.

This would leave me to believe the tower is located in southern part of the county. Most likely, its coming from either the Dansville or Leslie sites. This will be very interesting to observe how the system is rolled out over the next few weeks.

yep. i should probably program these freqs into my scanner. My pro-95 is very confusing when it comes to programming EDACS systems. if anyone has time to help me with this particular scanner, I would appreciate it.

Since LCN's are not known yet, there's no worry. Just put them all in...

I wonder if they will use a simple LCN arrangement or one that is very complicated? Thankfully, there are only so many freq. combinations they can use when putting one of these arrangements together. However, the good thing is that Ingham County can add more channel pairs for increased channel loading if they need them in the future.

I see a pattern in the control channels so far. first it was 453.050 then 453.475 then 460.600 now back to 453.475. We might have 3 control channels.

As I understand it, an EDACS TRS, is not limited in what channels it can assign as a control channel. However, the controller does like to keep a standard rotation with two or more channels on a daily basis. If for any reason the transmitters on all the regular control channels should fail, the controller can then select a normal voice channel as an alternative control channel, until the system is repaired.

I know Jackson County has been watching the developments in Ingham County, and it will be interesting to see what direction they will pursue in regards to their future communications system.

I noticed the database file for the Ingham Co. system (http://www.radioreference.com/module...TRSDB&sid=2849) has been updated with several different talkgroups. Can anyone tell me why there are both Analog and digital modes? Are those modes similar to the Digital and Encrypted modes of the APCO-25 system? Last question, I have the 796D and the 296D scanners...will I be able to hear both the analog and digital modes on these scanners?

Digital = ProVoice, no scanner on the market now or ever in the future will be able to listen to those.

And most of the channels are also encrypted, so even if somebodies neighbor's daughter's boyfriend hacks his Pro96 to receive PV, you are still stuck since the encryption is completely impossible to break.

Ok...well as long as I'm still able to receive the typical police and fire dispatch channels, LEIN, etc etc., i'll be fine. I've already accepted the fact and have gotten used to the special ops channels being encrypted, so that's nothing new. Thanks for your response!!
