Grants fund fire department items
Three local Macomb County fire departments received federal grants to purchase safety and wellness items, according to U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township. Harrison Township received $34,778 to purchase a diesel exhaust removal system for the township's older fire station. The New Baltimore Fire Department received $52,141 for breathing apparatus, and the Washington Township Fire Department received $149,815 for new radios that could be used on the new 800 MHz radio system that is being constructed by the county.
