Detroit City Subsystem Active
The Detroit City Subsystem of the MPSCS is now fully operational. The old tower (209) is currently denying all affiliations to the system. All users are using the Detroit City tower instead.
Unknown when DPD or DFD will be fully operational on this system.

Mostly detectives. Regular patrol is not on the system yet, nor is DFD.

Certain districts are now using both the old and new systems. Specifically I heard district 1 mobiles can use both systems as of 12 AM today.

In my monitoring with Pro96com, I've not seen any real use of the DPD dispatch talkgroups as yet. I've seen very few dispatch console grants as well. They may move over soon, but they aren't really there yet...

My department (Wayne County Sheriff) is dispatched through Detroit for our Highland Park operations. Our HP division deputies carry Detroit preps and have Detroit radios in their vehicles (some). Our changeover date for moving to the new digital Detroit system is said to be September 13th (next Tuedsay). I just tried contacting my Highland Park division contacts to confirm this date, but I wasn't able to catch them at this moment. I'll see what I can find out, but last I heard, September 13th was the switch-over date.

I spoke with a supervisor in fire dispatch over the weekend and they told me 09/13 for their move to the new dispatching facility.

This would be a very good day to be glued, if possible, to your scanners so you can hear what is going on and who is using what talkgroups.

I'm looking forward to finding out if I will be able to hear anything off of the towers that are near by. While at work, I can only hear the Northville tower.

Will det use their subsystem or will they be able to be monitored via normal MPSCS channels?

The subsystem basically replaces the old tower 209. With 30 frequencies, it should be able to handle a lot of radio traffic without too much trouble. I would imagine that at least the PD and Water departments would have access to the towers outside the city.
