Federal systems
I was searching the Federal UHF band last night from Sandusky, Ohio and logged a Motorola Control Channel on 411.5375. It showed a SysID of 3502. However, I can't find anything in the DB or anywhere else for it.
I also logged activity on 408.1000 with SysID of A730. That one had a weaker signal and is already identified.

I believe those are auto plants in Windsor Ontario Canada... I've heard them before, but normally have too weak of a signal on them to work out the channel map.

Thanks. The signal for this one was screaming in where I was at in Sandusky, Ohio.
I'm sure someone will be able to identify it.

Two nights ago, I was hearing a 9600 baud P-25 control channel on 406.8875 MHz. I had no idea where it was coming from, but since I was receiving UHF-T Band TRSs out of Chicagoland in the 476-478 MHz range, I thought it might have been coming from there.
I understand that in the future, Essex County in southwestern Ontario plans on implementing a 400 MHz, TRS for their fire departments. However, I have not heard anything in regards to the type of system it will be, or what the frequencies are as of this time. Hopefully, it will be a Motorola TRS.
Currently, I am receiving a strange data/control channel on 406.9125 MHz. Anyone else hearing it as well?

We are sitting in the middle of a high pressure zone right now, and there also was one of the largest solar flares on record last week. Tropospheric ducting/tunneling should be quite frequent this time of year and the current high pressure zone we are in should enhance it. The effect of the solar flares on UHF....I am not sure. I just read an article on UHF TV signals being logged over 1000 miles from their source.

I was listening to two hams talking on a two-meter repeater and they were watching a TV station in Rockford, Illinois and one of the hams was located north of Pittsburgh, PA. I never heard if it was VHF/UHF, but they were both blown away by how clear the signal was with a small outdoor antenna.
That said, the next few days should bring about some fantastic reception from all the tropo ducting that is going on. I hear that from six meters all the way up to 70 cm was wide open for DX contacts, the past few days. Likewise, the same atmospheric conditions have made scanning really exciting, especially in hearing all the comms coming in from Canada.

I heard a traffic net yesterday morning from New York on 146.64. That frequency is the local club's repeater frequency as well.
