Default Selfridge gets all 24 aircraft

Selfridge gets all 24 aircraft

Final base-closing commission report assigns entire group of 'Warthogs' to Harrison Township National Guard facility.

Here are a few pictures of the "Warthog". The third one is the nasty machine gun that sticks out of the nose of the aircraft!

Has there been any word on the Fighter Wing designation yet? I wonder if the A-10s will become the 107th FS or stay the 172nd FS. Another thing I have been thinking about is the tac frequencies they will use. Will they keep the freqs the F-16s use or get new ones? I had the thought that they may use different freqs that are low band because thats what they would use to talk to troops on the ground in combat.

I don't mean to go off topic, could one or both of you post or send me a complete list of the milair freqs that you monitor. I have a few, but i dont hear much. Just the occasional pair or group air to air in transit. I have also had no luck hearing any air to air refuel ops. Could anyone in the area help.

Thanks

Don't know. I'll see what I can find out.

According to my father, some guys he works with that live near SANGB have started seeing the A-10s flying around! Have any of you seen any yet?

By the way, the F-16s put on a great show last night over Lapeer County! I don't know if any of you listened to it but it sounded like they were playing around with weapons systems. For about an hour and a half (between 8 & 9pm) they were flying orbit patterns over my house and doing some sharp turn maneuvers. It was an awsome sight to see(and hear).

SURE DID
Couldn't see 'em, but they were sure talking up a storm on the radio. Even an AMC a/c REACH 32
doing a phone patch.............They are up today too.
Is this a daily or nightly thing, or do they have specific training days. any days or times more traffic than others?
Good Stuff

Usually the Sting Squadron from Ohio would fly up here on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I have not heard them in a while. The F-16s from SANGB are usually pretty active day and night, but sometimes they are not. I have been monitoring the C-130s for the past few weeks and their freqs are quiet, eventhough I can hear them fly near the house.

What a coincidence they are up in the air right now. They are on 139.8500.

I have just found out why we haven't been hearing the Ohio ANG 180th FW, they have been deployed to Iraq. http://www.f-16.net/f-16_news_article1429.html
