Fifth Third Ballpark being evacuated
(Comstock Park, September 15, 2005, 11:13 a.m.) Fifth Third Ballpark is being evacuated after authorities received a threat of some kind.

A simulated disaster terror drill was being performed at the park Friday morning when the phone call came in.

From what I just saw on the noon news on WoodTV8 the threat turned out to be a rumor, someone went out of script for the drill. But from the way I see it, things went pretty well. I did hear them going to what they called a "Real World Threat" and it sounded like they cleared the bal park quickly.

I remembrer being involved in a mock chemical spill when I lived in Ohio, and if it would have taken place in a different location the HAZMAT officer for the local police department would have thrown a monkey wrench into the drill. At the time it was the first county wide drill and he said they were not ready to handle the real thing. The drill took place at a chemical plant, he said if it was at a different location he would have set off a few smoke gernades in a different area to see how everyone reacted and handled the situation. But there was too much of a danger of a real misshap in doing it where we were.
