Livonia and Farmington Hills are considering combining their 911 dispatch services, which police officials from both cities said Wednesday would make their departments more efficient and save money.
Livonia currently has nine full-time dispatchers; sometimes, police officers sit in for them. Farmington Hills has 17 full-time dispatchers and seven part-timers, who handle 35,000 to 40,000 calls per year, according to Farmington Hills Police Chief William Dwyer.
