Default Niles on MPSCS

Their patch from the city system to MPSCS has been down, and that may have been testing the repaired equipment.

Quick question, what were the Niles FD frequencies? Are they under the Berrian County Fire on MPSCS or listed under the conventional on municipalities? I've put what I can into the radio but haven't picked anything up, don't know if its just like the police where no one can or not. Figured if I can't listen to the police, I'd try fire.

Between Niles city and Niles Twp., check out 151.295 (now the main county fire dispatch for south county), 460.600, and maybe 151.370. I'm listening from Buchanan most of the time so I only hear certain things. There has been a reorganization of the VHF-Hi channels, so I don't know if Niles Twp. really uses 151.370 as the database says. And I don't know about firegrounds. Niles City used to be strictly on 460.600; don't know about now. And I can't say I've heard Niles City ever use the 800 MHz fire channels, but I have heard the Twp. guys use it. Program in all the county VHF fire and 460.600 freqs, and also have a digital scanner working for the MPSCS. The fire departments definitely are NOT using any newer digital radios (MotoTRBO or Kenwood NexEDGE), as far as I know. Hope that helps a bit.

Regarding Cassopolis city, they don't even have a separate municipality listing in the database. Wonder why that is. They've gotta have police and fire, and public works of some kind. Which is why I brought up the question about the county covering the city. But if they've got their own city PD, why isn't there a listing for it?

As far as the fire department frequencies are, 151.295 is the toneout for all departments. Then its the departments choice whether they respond on vhf (156.105) or 800MHz (F911).

As for cassopolis police, they are 39xx units on tg 3148. And the fire department is 1xx units on the county fire channel 151.265 vhf.

At the time being from what I understand, theirs no way of listening to Niles PD unless they get on MPSCS. As for another thread you made about not hearing much from Berrien Co. Their very active a majority of the time and I'm listening from South Bend, so if your not hearing anything, it may be a programing issue. You'll also pick up a lot on the common/county wide channels. But for Niles PD, that's something I think everyone on this thread has been waiting for. Also a good thing to know, not everything in Berrien Co always uses the 800mhz, they like to flipflop when they use it. That's my two cents about that, not worth much tho.

joshua80 heard Niles PD testing for like a day on Berrien Co's P911 Tgrp 3122, but nothing since then. They were most likely just seeing if it works. As for nextedge, its just like I believe Mototrbo, no scanner even the psr800 can decode these. So if in fact Niles PD uses nextedge, then unless they use a patch on MPSCS or switch over full time to that, they can't be heard. If I didn't get anything right, my apologies, this is what I understand the problem to be.

Not entirely 151.295 for all tone-outs. Just a few short days ago Berrien County toned out New Buffalo Township Fire on 154.250. FYI...

@govermentcheese, if you go back a few posts, I bring that up. I believe as from what I've been hearing, their still on VHF, but can use 800 when they want. Listen in on the Berrien Co. FD South Dispatch. 151.295 (100.0)
