Lakeville = Romeo

MPSCS refers to it as Lakeville, but yes, that would be the Romeo site. Sorry for the confusion; I was typing what I had read in the MPSCS newsletter.

Glad we got that cleared up. The tower is close to Lakeville and not Romeo but it is off of Romeo Road. I see in the database the Romeo tower is now the Lakeville tower, so be it. Now I just have to break an old habit of how I reference this tower.

There are several like that;
The Plainwell tower is actually closer to RIchland, but it's referred to as Plainwell by MPSCS & is listed that way in the DB. The tower listed in the database as Marshall (Calhoun County) is actually just east of Battle Creek. I figure as long as they're close (and the map feature shows where they actually are), why split hairs?

TG 2008 is now listed as Post 21 : SPARE. I'm sitting here in Lansing and hearing an awful lot of chatter on that for it to be just a spare channel... Any idea when it stopped being D2South? Is it just a random extra channel now?

I am not sure on what that TG is really used for anymore. I still hear it called D2SOUTH every so often, but the only real traffic I hear on it anymore is usually patched traffic from Macomb Sheriff's Dispatch. All MSP D2 dispatch traffic is on D2NORTH now (TG-2007)

Its been a few months since I actually listened to that TG, but last I knew it was a patch from Macomb County Sheriff as the previous poster said. Apparently some of the radios the troopers use that work Macomb CO (eg Bruce Twp cars) do not have Macomb CO Sheriff TG programmed in.
It stopped being D2South when MSP went through that huge transition / restructuring, where they closed many posts and redefined the borders of the different districts. Since District 2 (Detroit Metro area) lost a few counties to districts 3 and 1, it now only has Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne. Since there are fewer people, and a smaller area, they moved everyone on to one talkgroup.

I just heard Station 20 calling for a District 1 CO on 6017 referring to it as "DNR D1".
The database has that talkgroup as "DNR D3 Dispatch" and I see there is no D1 Dispatch listed. Stn 20 and a CO did have a short conversation so it wasn't just a mis-selected talkgroup.

New MPSCS site planned for the city of Grand Rapids. Looks like this will be in the downtown area near Look-Out Park. This will be on a guyed tower up about 91 meters above the ground. Therefore, it should provide good coverage for the city.

Looks like there is a tower already located in the area that belongs to GRPD are they sharing the location or constructing a new one?

And it got returned because they attached the incorrect cover letter and region 21 approval letter (both refer the the Stanton site).

Thanks - did hear some sting-type / monitoring ops later on so I'd guess you got it!

So I'm listening to a bunch of TG's that I have programmed under MSP and up pops this one... A lot:
1399 577 D I-EVENT35 Event channel 35 (Law Enforcement) Law Tac
It's listed under Statewide Event Talkgroups... On this system.
Seems misplaced to me... The traffic I consistantly hear is of a surveillance and evidence gathering nature. For instance:
This morning around 5:30am I heard the units setting up at Detroit Metro Airport to intercept a female and her companion traveling on Delta flight 404 from Las Vegas to Detroit. They must have had a crap load of agents because they were in the terminal; at Avis Rental Car, in the baggage claim and outside at arrivals in case the subjects were picked up.
So anyone have any idea who these communications belong too?
It seems amazing to me that these are state police as I've rarely seen a trooper on the road in the last 3 to 5 years which leads me to believe their ranks have been depleted quite a bit.

Those are not MSP talkgroups, those are shared talkgroups. Sort of like a TAC channel for multiple agencies to talk at the same time.

I hear them do sting ops on the I Event channels all the time. Not sure why they are not on an encrypted talkgroup in this case. Stuff of this nature should be.
