You are right, also there already been two incidents, in Niles Township, One was very early on Sunday Morning and the other was Monday, when the Berrien County Sheriff Deoartment didn't have enough manpower on duty and both times, they had to get mutual aid from both the Michigan State Police and the Niles City Police Department!
On Sunday morning all On-duty Niles City Police Cars, except for one, was giving mutual aid to the Berrien County Sheriff Department in Niles Township near the Stateline. Then the City of Niles put out a call of a large fight on South 5th Street in the City. The lone Niles City Police Car NOT tied up with the mutual aid call, responded.
Three times after the lone squad car arrived on the scene, He asked for more assistance,,
each time, the Niles City Police 911 Center/Niles City Dispatch answered, "all other Units are tied up.
After the third request, the Niles City 911 Center/Niles City Dispatch answered all Niles City cars, Berrien County Cars and State Cars are tied up. I will have one Niles City car on his way to help you, in about 1 to 2 minutes.
The Niles City Patrol Car on the scene of the fight on South 5th Street responded, "there are 50 people involved in this fight, please call in the Day Shift for help!"
About 7 minutes later, the City Dispatch told the car, "the day shift have been notified!!"
