Border Patrol, vigilante communications?
FOX2 News did a story on a vigilante group formed by ordinary U.S. citizens concerned with protecting our U.S. borders. They've been quite active in Texas, and are now making efforts to expand their surveillance to the Michigan, Canadian borders.
Has anyone monitored such activity, or have any idea what frequencies they might be using?
Thanks!

Check the MURS frequencies. They don't require a license.
151.820
151.880
151.955
154.540
154.600
Some of these guys are hams as well so do a search through the 144-148 MHz area as well.

They might even be using the FRS or GMRS frequencies as well.

The organization that was profiled on FOX2 News was called; Friends Of The Border Patrol. I'm finding out there is more than one organization with similar interest, and agendas. Another one is Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. In doing some research I was surprised to discover that some are employing the use of FRS radios.
So Ron (Thunderbolt), you were correct!

One, they ain't vigilantes and 2 they are there because our own Fed's can't be so they are helping out where the Gub-a-mint always falls short. It's the bleeding heart liberals who label these organizations and goof's and weirdo's...Maybe we should get the liberals to try and do something about the border patrol's? I doubt it!

The word "Vigilante" does not necessarily mean bad, or wrong. It defines a person, or group of people that operate outside law enforcement, or government for a similar cause. The term "Computer Hacker" shares the same burden. Not all hackers are bad, or up to no good.
Personally I think Friends Of The Border Patrol (FOTBP) have good intentions, and are doing the U.S. a great service! Groups such as this have been accused of being racist, against ethnics such as Mexicans, and Arabs. Ironically, the chairman of FOTBP is Andy Ramirez, and he is Mexican!
It just so happens that Mexicans are entering the country illegally, in very large numbers. Some Middle-Eastern people are being profiled as high risk, because some of them obviously are, and they have made their intentions to destroy us very clear. Everyone knows these facts, it should come as no surprise, and all U.S. citizens, regardless of their ethnicity should understand the need to scrutinize who is allowed to enter the U.S., regardless of their race, or religious beliefs! If their friends, or family want to enter the U.S., with good intentions, there is a legal process allowing them to do so.
It's painfully obvious that our Government is either not capable, or not interested, in securing our borders as well as they need to be. So this explains why our Government is not happy with the activities from groups such as FOTBP. They're either making the Government look inadequate, or they're interfering with someones hidden agenda.
Living in Michigan, I frequently drive along the waters edge, looking across the rivers at the Canadian border. There are miles, and miles of opportunity to cross our borders without intervention, or difficulty. If organizations such as FOTBP are willing to volunteer their time, and effort, to help alert the U.S. Border Patrol to illegals attempting to enter the U.S., then I say good! If our Government wants me to believe they're serious about protecting our borders then they should hire these guys, and thousands more like them!

In fact I just heard a radio interview about how the Mex army is crossing the border into America to protect drug shipments and are shooting at and wounding US Border Patrol.
This kind of stuff has been going on for years under Dem and Rep presidents and has got to stop.

I solemnly promise to refrain (or at least try) from futher replies, dittos, and (QUOTES), to the politcal tone this "thread" has waywardly ventured off-course into; seemingly unrelated to the radio hobby focus of R.R.

Don't just look MM, c'mon over. You can have some total nudity @ our Windsor adult entertainment establishments, injest some quality grain based fermented beverages, gamble with 0 taxes @ the gaming establishments, and if you're lucky you can meet with the people here that will pay you $600 to $1000 to load your trunk up with a few illegals and come home with a few extra bucks.....Canada, very nice!!!!
