Default Metro Detroit Scanning

Hey everybody! I've been scanning for a long time, but just got my new 796d ! I've got a few questions regarding specifics of apco-25 trunked systems, and just the way things work in general. I guess for startes what is the difference between Detroit tower 21A and Detroit tower 701 ? Does 701 refer to just one actual physical tower or does 701 refer to the 10 sites or whatever they have around the whole city of Detroit?

Also I'd love to learn more about how MSP communicates. I live in Sterling Hts and the only thing I usually get is a faint signal from Mt. Clemens tower (hopefully that will change tomorrow though when I get my new antennas from Antenex).... do all MSP talkgroups get simulcast to all the MPSCS towers or are their certain towers designated only for certain districts? what happens if the state policeman is in say Sterling Hts where there aren't towers close then what?

If any of you guys in the metro Detroit area want to discuss scanning around this area / trade files/ Freqs please definitely email or IM me

hope to talk to you guys soon

Program the 701 tower control channel frequencies.

For help on trunking, and statewide systems, check the Wiki or read through the posts in this forum.

Default Clinton Twp PD scanning

Is anyone able to pick up Clinton Twp PD through MPSCS system on talkgroup channel 2333?

Clinton Twp. PD still operates on 460.325.

You should get the Mt. Clemens tower fairly well, it is at Elizabeth and Hall Rd. I've found that I had to shorten the antenna that came with the 796 to get Romeo and Mt. Clemens.
Mt. Clemens gets 4 bars. If a MSP car was in Sterling Hts, he would be on the Mt. Clemens Tower. They aren't simulcast, but it is a smart zone system, so if a MSP unit is on TG2009 on the Mt. Clemens Tower all of TG 2009 traffic would be heard on that Tower. I get Chesterfield traffic on both Romeo and Mt. Clemens Towers. You won't get Detroit (Tower 701) very well, since there is a problem with scanners and a simulcast system, but you should be able to get Mt. Clemens, Romeo and maybe Richmond, plus Warren's system. Also with a 796 you must put each Tower in a seperate bank, since it will only scan one control channel per bank.

I know they still operate on that frequency. I was just curious if anyone could pickup that frequency using the the MPSCS system or maybe that 2333 ID is for when they go digital.

I have only heard that TG a couple of times, but not any PD traffic, probably won't hear Clinton on MPSCS until they go on the Macomb Simulcast.
